The red white & grey pattern is from Bonjour Quilts and the block is called Adori. My daughter got that one, and the orca quilt went to a fellow sailor docked in Grand Rivers.

I'm not quite clear on what you are saying. Are you saying you can't quilt when the boat is moving or somehow you have less space?

Correct on both, bkay. My sister is bunked in v-berth where my sewing room is, so there's no room in there right now, lol. And on the river, one of us is always at the helm and boat traffic is frequent. Battery power is at a premium until we get solar panels installed as well. It certainly is an adventure!

Those are great, Char! I like the flying geese variation that looks like fish.

Both of your quilts are beautiful, Char. I really like the red, white and grey one. I love how the block looks so different in the different fabrics. I really like Bonjour Quilts too. I can't imagine sewing in a v-berth, but I'm sure you've adapted it well to your needs. I bet you'll both be happy to get the mast and boom off the deck. Have a great trip down the river.

Lois, we actually had the mast shipped down to a marina in Mobile bay because it was too long to cradle it on board (62ft). We will be arriving there tomorrow and have reserved a slip for a month to have mast put back on, a rigger tune rig, and solar power/lithium battery install as well. Gotta have power to sew & quilt!

The journey down the river was peaceful, fun & exciting, but also challenging and a little frightening at times. I learned a great deal about river navigation, my big beautiful boat, and myself! Looking forward to a hot shower tomorrow and a big seafood dinner 😁

Jackie, I don't have a Facebook page nir do i knowvthe first thing about blog posting, lol. I think I'm going to have to do something to let ppl know where we are & what we are doing though. We both have very large families & there has been lots of interest in what we are doing.

Thanks for the Info, Sue. I will definitely look into that. The marina a we are at for mast restep leaves much to be desired with regard to personal care. Washers & dryers not working, 1 shower in women's bath area, and the docks themselves are nothing short of treacherous. As soon as mast is back up, we're outa here! Weather & views are very nice though.

Hello all!

Just an update for those interested. We spent a month in Mobile waiting to set up mast, rigging, working on projects before hitting the Gulf. Did some sailing in & around Mobile Bay, sailed to Pensacola, then to Panama City where we are now. Transmission decided to tank, so we are spending Christmas here. Missing family, but we are happy to be with some buddy boaters/friends.

I hope you ALL have a very Blessed, lovely Christmas and NY with your families & friends.

What a bummer about your transmission, Char. What do they say? A boat is a hole in the water that you pour money into, or something like that. But it's your home now, so a little maintenance and repair is to be expected. Your qult looks great. I'm happy that you have found it possible to quilt in your yacht.
