Home Office / Gym

I am looking to convert my upstairs loft into a multi purpose room that serves as a gym and an office. I want to include two desks, my peloton bike, and a weight rack. Let me know what furniture would look good for this and what layout would be best. I can get rid of all of the current furniture because I don't really love it as it is very bulky

Start by removing all the stuff you do not need in the space . The the bike will be the big item to fit in . They take a ton of space . Do you need a bench for weights . I like the wieights that are all in one not a rack for small spaces .But it depends on what you need for working out . So a bit more info posted here in a comment DO NOT start another post all things related to this are dealt with in the post in comments. I woud wall mount the TV on an articulating arm hung where you can see it from the bike . Then thta frees up the spac ebetween the desks for maybe the bench if needed. I need more info and also is that an actul working office space or just a home office . When do you workout ?

This space will be for my teenage sons. The desks are for their gaming computers and homework. I want this to be a multi purpose space for them that combines their two hobbies which are gaming and working out but i also want it to look nice as a part of my house. It is the first room see you when you come up the stairs to go to the bedrooms. My sons are looking to incorporate their dumbell rack and bench which is currently in the garage

What is below the loft? What type of flooring are you going to have in the space? I think having a gym/gaming set up in what looks like an open concept loft will really impact the noise levels in the rest of the house. My inlaws had a lovely home with a double height lower level living room with a loft area that had a small TV/Den and their master bedroom. If someone was watching the news upstairs, it echoed down to the living room and made it impossible to have a conversation. They didn’t notice when it was just the 2 of them home but as soon as “normal” family noise and activity visited, it was terrible. So noisy!

@howistyle directly below the loft is the foyer and the front of the house which is pretty far from the main living space downstairs. I am not concerned about noise because I have rooms in the house that are dedicated quiet spaces. I was think of putting a gym mat type of flooring over the existing hardwood in the gym half of the room

@EastCoastDesignz, that makes sense. Maybe post a to scale drawing showing windows/stairs/doors as it’s hard to get a sense of the space and a bit tricky with it being a major thoroughfare with bedroom access. You could cut out scale dimensions of the exercise equipment, desks, gaming chairs etc and move them around on your floor plan until you land on a layout that you think will work. Much easier to do that hauling all the stuff up there and then trying to figure it out!

Do your boys use the TV to game with friends? if not I’d be tempted to remove the TV and all the furniture except the desks/chairs and use the the rest of the space for workout equipment - I might float the bike between the desks and the put weights against the railings

when I want to watch TV on the bike, I just use my ipad but YMMV

Thanks! Assuming the desks are staying where they are and the Peloton goes where your couch currently is, there is not much room left for additional furniture…
