No better location for the TV in this room?

Is there an attic above? Your electrician can feed the electric down from above.

This is really the best spot. I thought we could possibly cut a box out of paneling and get the outlet 12 inches from the edge ant tv will cover i dont know if there are studs or its brick directly behind def gonna need to find out what is behind the paneling

That is such a beautiful fireplace wall. I'm not sure this really is the best spot without seeing the rest of the room.

One solution is to place the TV on an adjoining wall and arrange the seating in an L to face both the fireplace and the tv.

The midpoint of the tv screen should be at about eye level when you are sitting. I know that mounting it above the fireplace is the default location for a lot of to people, but it's actually one of the worst places it can go from an ergonomics standpoint. I don't want to be craning my neck up when watching tv, so none of mine has ever been mounted above a fireplace.

Oh i agree with you. trying to with problem solve or remive shelf and mount as low as possible

If you're going to put the tv above the fireplace do as I did and mount it with a www.mantelmount.com unit. Here's mine up and down. It will save your neck.

TV mounted above fireplace:

TV down for viewing at the perfect height. Like you, we had no other place to put a tv in the living room as the back opens to the kitchen/dining room and the left side is full wall sliders and the right side is all windows.

Here is roughly my concept:

From the LG Owners Manual (example):

"Do not place the TV and/or remote control in the following environments:

- Near any heat source such as stoves and other devices that produce heat."

From Samsung:

"Mounting your TV above a fireplace

"We do not recommend mounting your TV over a fireplace. Your primary concern will be the heat; Samsung TVs should never exceed 104°F. Before you even think of mounting a TV above your fireplace, light a fire and check the temperature first."

I believe dimensions are 20’ long x 14’ deep.

The TV in that location will be very distracting for the people sitting in front of the fire reading. I'd put the TV out in the garage or some other remote place; you will be much happier without it in a primary living space. (only half joking)

We have another living space that will not habe a tv. this will be the den/tv/etc room. but yes- i get it ha

For some reason I presumed this was the Living Room, thus my comment about first impressions. How nice to have a Den for the TV...AND with a fireplace!

Don't take the mantle down. If this is where the TV winds up then it will help to act as a heat shield.
