I’d think less about what style and more about how do I use and how do I want to use the space. In that entry I’d do a circular table right under the light stacked with books and fresh flowers. You might need a bench to store a dog leash in and mittens and a place to pull off shoes. Once you figure out the need/want then look for pieces that accomplish that, that you also find attractive. There’s no need to blindly obey an idea that since the house was built in xxxx everything in it must follow.

Paint, wallpaper, remove iron stair rail and replace with modern glass stair rail. additionally, add beautiful area rug and wood floors if you want to make entry feel warm and inviting. find a modern sratement chandelier and library table and stools for extra seating fir dinner parties. flowers on table, art books and arr on walls. WDYT?

My goal was to work with the existing components- floor, railing- to select pieces the complement and improve the area. I know I’ll need some type of bench, mirror, art, I’m not sure what style to select them in.

I’d place an arched black metal framed mirror over a console or bench to complement the railing.

A round table and rug would look ao great there… sort of like this table. This was a Google search- I have no affiliation with the names listed etc…

You have an outlet under the stairs so a table or floor lamp would be nice there for ambient light.

I would paint all the interior doors black to work with the black stair railing.

Go with the Hollywood Regency style. Here is a Hans Kogl style table. You can also research his lighting and find something for your ceiling. Some pieces are very dramatic, so consider just a flush light.

Keep black in mind as an accent color.

I see in the next room a piece of furniture that is black. Would you post a photo of that room?

I would replace the black railing with wood, the iron feels like it belongs outside.
