Are the pendant wires connected to a light switch that's in the wrong place or are the pendant wires connected directly to a circuit breaker (so the light will be on all the time if there is no remote switch)? Is the pendant light attached to and connected to an electrical box in the ceiling?

@wdccruise I am having pendant lights installed over the nightstands on either side of a bed. One side has a wall switch. However, the electrician can not get a switch installed on the other side, without cutting into the wall (which I would prefer not to do,) Currently, they are both connected to that one switch. The electrician just did that as a temporary fix, until we figure out another option. So, to answer your question, the electrician can come back and rewire it however is needed.

Note: The pendant uses a specialty bulb, which is why I can not just do the GE remote bulb option.

What kind of bulb does the pendant use? A standard bulb has an E26 (screw) base, A19 shape, and 2700K-3000K color temperature.

@wdccruise It requires 8 bulbs of E14 (going by memory, but I think that is the right number) size. The size is just slightly different from a standard candelabra bulb.

Just have the electrician install an old work electrical box (example). Yes, he would have to cut a hole for the electrical box but assuming the wires can be manipulated into the box, only the hole for the box itself would be required. An old work box attaches to the drywall.

If you absolutely cannot cut the wall, you could install a double smart switch such as this or this in a single electrical box. Note that a neutral wire is required for both. The remote control would be Alexa or Google Home.

Not endorsing this product - but the basic idea of a remote switch with a receiver that's in the ceiling box.

As long as it's not all metal box / cover the receiver should work.

@wdcruise Thank you for your help so far! The issue is that he, for some reason, can not access above the wall/from the attic down into the wall. There is something preventing the wires from being fed down the wall to a switch. Of course, I would not mind the drywall cut out for the addition of a switch. But, it is the wires from the switch into the attic and powersource that is the issue - they can not feed them down the normal way. The only way would be to cut from the attic down, to see why the wires will not feed, and then try to correct that.

They have already wired power to the pendant light. I just need a remote way to switch that power on/off.

Well, if you can't find another solution, you could install this dual dimmer switch in the one electrical box you have.

@wdccruise The switch is on my side of the bed. I honestly would be fine without the lights altogether, lol. It is my husband who wants to be able to control the lights, or at least the light on his side. The double smart switch, does it come in a dimmer version?
