The following updates will require a budget…If possible, get a matching night stand for the other side of bed. Move the bed and night stands closer to the windows. Place substantial curvy table lamps on night stands. Round or free form wall decor above bed…not square or rectangular. Center the dresser/tv on the bed. Remove all small decor from dresser. The small framed photos could be relocated to the night stands. Place a grouping of low profile decor items on dresser…like a decorative storage box, tray with a decorative bowl, and a couple books or sculptural item. Install full length drapery to cover all of the windows. Chose a fluffy comforter with a large scale pattern that balances the dark wood of the bed/night stands. Then a floor plant to left of the dresser and a small upholstered chair to the right of the dresser. A big floor length mirror on the wall opposite the window wall.

Hi. I suggest an area rug for under the bed that extends out in front of it with lavender, mint green, rose, some deep blue/plum accents in it. For the windows I would get some roman shades that match the wood of the bureau and night stand and get another night stand to match the one on the right side of the bed. I would go with white curtains/drapes with sheer panels in the center along that wall. A chaise lounge that is lavender or one of the other accent colors in the area rug might be a pleasant addition. Take the red runner off the dresser. I would look for some nice art for over the bed. Possibly a floor lamp. The suggestions I made are if you want to keep your current bedspread. A big luxurious goosedown white comforter would look great. Then choose an area rug that has colors in it that you find aesthetically pleasing.

Is this a rental or your home? I do not like the bedding color and the rug color together . You need 2 night tables much larger lamps and some connection from the bedding to the sapce . So as much as I do not like rugs on top of carpet it might be the only way to do that connection so maybe something like this . It also gives you one more color to use as an accent . If the space on the left of the bed is tight move the bed over to get the space for the other night table If you can paint the walls that would be ahuge improvement

Add an original piece of art to enhance the look of your room and give a life to that place.

Your current selections have provided a direction. Smoky Plum for your window treatments.

    Kill the overhead fan light.

Your room requires nightstands on both sides of the bed. Lamps need to be taller than your headboard.

I would start over with your color selections. It's a big expanse of carpet so I'd suggest adding a rug that gives the room some contrasting colors. With a big bed, if at all possible, always have matching bedside tables for symmetry and balance. Change your ceiling fixture for something larger. Lose the ceiling fan unless it's something that you actually use. Here's an idea for colors and decor, but there are a lot of different ways you can go.

Take a look at the Inspiration Bedroom below which would be stunning to update the style of your bedroom with it's cherry wood furniture.

A charcoal accent wall with others a warm white, white drapery panels at each end (can also have panels in between your windows), dark natural fibre roman shades on the windows, a red tone traditional area rug. You seem to have only 1 nightstand, I think you have the space and 2 would look more balanced. You can get white ones like the picture above which would look less matchy matchy and place nice lamps with large white base (white or natural shades) on them. You seem to have room for a bench so a white one would look good or a bench with a white cushion. A nice lamp on your dressser and not too many nick nacks... I suggest you replace the ceiling fan with a chandelier, doesn't have to be one as elaborate as in the picture but brass would be nice. Everything doesn't need to be overly expensive, shop at places such as Wayfair, Home Goods, Ikea, and Amazon...

Beige, cream, gray, a dash of red, pinkish-silver bedspread, dark wood bed. Too many colors and no pattern. If you don’t normally open the shades, how about a set of long drapes on the window wall, leaving the ends of the wall area uncovered? A lightly-patterned fabric which goes with your other colors would add a bit of “movement” to the room. You could open the drapes enough to expose the center window if you want fresh air. Then add a few pieces of framed art. I think the TV is too high, but if you sit up in bed while watching TV, it works. I like to have at least one chair in the bedroom.
Two nightstands add “balance” to the bed…plus a place to put your book or a glass of water. I would lay a rug at the foot of the bed (the same length as the width of the bed).

As for me I do not like fan in bedroom, blowing air in my face. I would go with nice chandelier.

Agree with Beverly and Celery. However, I might go with nightstands that are a break from all the dark wood and also add an area rug that picks up those lavender colors from your bedding.

Somehow to me the rooms above in lavender look gloomy. I would introduce some white to brighten things up. Place a white duvet or coverlet and place the lavender bedspread at the foot of the bed (but a darker tone would work better for more contrast). Find an area rug with lavender and white. Definitely white shades on the lamps and my personal taste is for unmatched nightstands to the bedroom set, mirror ones similar to the one shown below would work.

I am going to weigh in on the bedroom fan. I do like a bedroom fan without the light as it can be a strobing effect, and the downward directed lights in existing fan are harsh. Fan blades should be white to blend into ceiling, this is a functional item not a decor statement ( I hope). So replace fan fixture as suggested, and install can lights when more light is needed than bedside lamps can provide.
