Basement stairwell pendant freak out

Yikes! Doing my first addition with a basement and bought a pendant in advance of building. Now that it’s built, I’m afraid the pendant is dinky. Electrician hasn't come yet so maybe can fix it if I need to.
the pendant is 8” wide and 36” long. the basement stairwell has a door at the top, is enclosed and the basement family room has 8’ ceilings.
