window advice please

Happy new year! We just installed these plantation shutters on our bay windows in our living room—and we love them! Do you think the space needs some sort of “warmth?” I feel like the height of the walls and the wall itself needs fabric to warm up the walls. Are side panels used in modern/contemporary looks? Or just leave it alone? I’m in South Florida. Thank you 😊

Absolutely. Your room needs color. Right now it's a sea of gray which has passed its prime. Why are the sofas covered like that?

It does seem gray in the pic but the walls, trim and ceiling are painted BM White Dove in different sheens. The sofas are covered because we have an all black German Shepherd who love removing and destroying upholstery zippers. Thankfully she’s outgrowing that stage.

The shutters look really nice! I’d live with them as is a bit and see what you think.

Can you show the rest of the room? Are there any other windows?

Thank you Jilly! Here are a few pics

More windows that will soon have the same shutters.

Thank you! I’d get the other shutters on, then live with it all a bit. One option would be curtains on the other two windows, leaving the bay with just shutters. It might give you the warmth you’d like.

Thank you Jilly! That’s a good idea, I’ll see if I can find inspiration pics 😀

What color are the sofas under those covers? My first thought was that I think a darker colored area rug under the sofas would help ”ground” the space & help balance the weight & dark colored piano. Perhaps some more art & accesories ( especially on the curio shelves ) with color.

Close up pic, they’re a warm grey with a slight blue undertone.

    Sea of swatches for pillows

Pretty room - I agree with Jilly and would add curtain panels to the 2 side wall windows after the shutters get installed and leave the bay window alone -

FWIW some additional texture and a hit of contrast could bring the room to life a bit more, just something to think about for throw pillows, art etc (your dog sounds adorable! we have a huge lab who loves our sofa)

La_la girl, yes! I completely agree with the contrast suggestion. Looking at a calm medium blue. Maybe navy might be too harsh if too much?

Ohh love the pillow swatches! i agree that medium blues would work - maybe just a touch a deep navy or black but agree not too much - once the shutters are on the side windows, maybe think about the wall in its entirety (curtains + art to replace the mirror)
