How about some stationary drape panels on the inside to add some softness, color and/or pattern and then some solar roller shades shades on the outside of the patio to block the sun. Have the outside shades powered so you can operate with a remote from inside. The solar shades on the outside will give you shade for both the patio and inside spaces. Two functions for the price of one!

Which direction does the back of the house face? The AZ sun is going to dictate what you should do with the window treatments.

It looks like you have a covered porch so that will help tremendously if it's South or West. The corner window might need some heavy-duty sun protection depending on the house's orientation.

I would select very sheer drapery panels to soften the windows.

Don't do the typical 'desert style' in your home. Do something more artistic.
