IMO that light is for over a dining table not the center of the kitchen.

A flush mount light would be common for the kitchen ceiling. Think about the swing of your pantry door and measure how much clearance you have above it so you can't bang the light. If it's going to be the main light for your kitchen, look at how much light it puts out and make sure you're not just getting "mood lighting". a flush mount, yes... bare bulbs NO ... no one wants to look into a glaring bright light.
