Nothing to offer - just looking at your pics. I think it’s nice you’re leaving the wall length hearth. I think it’d be a miss to take it out. Your new ceiling is quite pretty. Looks like a new floor going in too? Quite an ambitious project you’re doing!

Can you white wash/ smear the brick?

Plan is to leave as is for now and if I hate it once everything is done…. I may paint it

The brick FP as is will remain a nice tie in to the adjoining room brick floor -assuming that’s staying too. The inspo pic for shelving is good. Will you want or need closed shelving for bottom part for hiding the tech stuff? What’s behind the doors on left side of FP? Can they be refinished or changed to match the new mantel & shelving color?

Yes we’re leaving the flooring in the other room. That’s a wood box and we are redoing it and putting a wire mesh cabinet front or leaving open
