Glad your package arrived and you like what I picked out, Nicole. The only kind of garden journal I ever kept was about what seeds I planted and the date I planted them, where they came from (swap or seed company) and when they sprouted and I just did that in a plain little notebook. I finally decided to try to record more and early this year I got one of the journals I sent to you. I love it. The whole week gets recorded on one page and so far I've been good about using it. Wrote down the first time I mowed the lawn this year, first daffodil bloom, when the deer ate my rose buds, when I planted things and quite a bit more. There are also some pages for diagrams and plans and what you accomplish each month. Anyway, I liked mine so much that I ordered a spare for me even before I ordered yours since I plan to record in the duplicate one next year. As for the potting mat, I frequently plant in my kitchen or on the screened porch and it makes such a mess. I thought how helpful that would be.

Now, for Annie's wonderful gifts to me - Annie sent me two solar lights and a great hat with a drooping brim which should make it nice for walking the dog near sunset and when there is just a light rain falling. Also, two solar lights that I am very excited about. They came yesterday and I put them out today so they could store energy and they are so pretty. I have them to the left of my front steps near where my garden flag hangs. I've gone out there several times already to check them out both before and after dark.

I had hoped to be putting my seedlings in the garden or at least in outdoor containers by now, but they are still too small. Going up into the 80s here and intense sun most days and we just had 3 days of extra strong winds so other than the plants I still had in pots from last year, not much has gone in the ground yet. It figures it would go from too cold to too hot. I hope I can keep my seedlings alive so they quickly get bigger, Keeping them in the house makes everything awkward.

So thank you, Annie. Good idea for a swap and I'm so happy with what you sent!

I just opened my wonderful Garden Frolic gift from you....THANKS so much. I received 2 Sunflower Solar Lights. With the pole that sticks in the ground, they are about 2 ft tall. I just put them outside to get"solar charged." Very cool....

Jeanne, somehow I missed your eclipse post until today. Nice picture. Yes, it was awesome. We experienced the Total Eclipse here in Texas. Many viewing parties were planned but we enjoyed it from the front yard. During the Totality, the temps dropped and dogs were barking all over the neighborhood. Our dogs were inside and did not bark.

My niece was visiting from Georgia and Dan's cousin and wife drove to Waco Texas from Myrtle Beach for the event. They came thru DFW on their way home and we had lunch on Tuesday.

Saturday was our Euless garden Club spring swap. The swap had to be moved from the park where it was scheduled to a covered patio at the Library. It rained ALL day. In spite of the weather we had a great turnout and many plants.

I took 30 plants and brought home 8. The one I'm most excited about is a Toona sinensis, (commonly called Chinese mahogany, Chinese cedar, Chinese toon, beef and onion plant, or red toon). Have any of you grown this or have you ate the leaves before? The lady that brought them said she puts the leaves in scrambled eggs or stir fry.

I was watching a show this past weekend....featured Paella. I think I made it maybe 30 years ago. It is on my list of must makes.

RithRuth, glad you like the gloves and magnet. Hubby has decided we need to go back to Spain in November.

A friend is visiting for a couple says and we explored some greenhouses. I was excited to find one with perennials that were 1.29 a piece. They were the small pots and the plants are small but we know how fast plants grow. I bought 8. Since they are small, I can plant them in establish gardens and it will gove me time to get new gardens going for later transplanting. It has been chilly at night so I am waiting to buy my annuals.

Congratulations on Bingo, Ruth! Wow, all packages received and what lovely things were sent. Thanks for being our hostess, Annie. April has certainly flown by. It has been so busy for me here that I haven't even checked in every day. So sorry. Part of it is I seem to be running on low energy. Have no idea why, Had lots of things checked out by my doctor and everything seems to be okay with my blood work.

I'm excited to say that I'm getting some work down in my yard - front and back. I'll take some pictures once it's further along.

Now for May ---- as you might suspect we'll take some guesses on the Kentucky Derby. I need to look to see which horses are running. There will definitely be another game as well. I'll post later this evening or tomorrow.

Our Spring started out hot and then it got cool (especially at night) which definitely slowed down my seedlings. I have two plant swaps coming up. One next weekend and one early in June. Love going to plant swaps!
