My father in law and a couple of the guys will be putting up a 16x20 roof over my deck. Problem is the the 6x6 post lands right in the middle of my current stairs. With that said I need to move my stairs to the right(of picture). Issue is the current stairs opening is 42 and the other spacing from post to post is 56. I am trying to avoid cutting a post as I will then need to replace the trek. Any ideas to make this visually appealing and not uneven looking. I considering dual posts on each side almost like an entry to the stairs. Thoughts? Ideas? Cost?
