Haha, Jan, I get it. But if you're not totally sure, then the attic or basement is a kind of halfway house for those kinds of items. Just make sure that you clear out those spots on a regular basis so the stuff doesn't pile up.

If you can find a "made in china" label, then just donate to a local thrift store that raises money for local charities.

lol!!! That's the problem! The basement and attic are never a "halfway" and I have 33 years of moving people here to there to prove it. Unless it's to the "home of absolute last resort?"

It goes into the NEXT attic or basement..........: ) I am a witness. Or the kids laugh through the tears as it goes into a dumpster.

I agree with Diana, to a degree. I think it’s okay to save things for a while. However, set a time limit. Put a reminder in your phone for not more than a few months. In my case, I end up donating about 90% of that stuff.

I'm sure that's the case for most people. I am not most people. I am very organized and disciplined, so that works for me. I like the time limit idea, Connecticut.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. When I’m sitting in my living room, I can see this wall leading upstairs. I’ve thought about a gallery wall, but I have one on the 2nd floor. I contemplated a grouping of mirrors but worry I’ll accidentally knock one down…since I am such a clutz (spelling?). Any ideas?

IMO we all out grow things we loved at one time I think give them a way and get something you love now .

I think it depends on if you have a repurpose idea already or if this is something you commonly do. I would save them but I always have a project. If you complete repurpose projects at the rate of twice a decade then I suggest you donate them.
