That’s a fairly large backplate so as long as your new fixture has a larger plate you could be fine, especially if you have access from the backside.

There is a possibility that when you take that plate off, the plumbing behind, it might be soldered. We ended up facing that in our hall bathroom, and so we did not fix it until we did a whole bathroom remodel. There are lots of ways to address it, but not all of them are very attractive.
