need help with white stripes problem after sanding and Bona RedOut

I am running into some big problem in refinishing my red oak floor using Bona Red Out.

First problem: After the contractor applied Bona Red Out A and B today, the floor has very obvious white strikes all over the place. I did some searching and it looks like could be "chatter" issue caused by improper sanding. What is the possible solution to this?

Second problem: The breakfast and kitchen area is newly installed red oak. After sanding and before applying Red Out A/B, they look similar to existing red oak. But now after applying Red Out, the new floor looks much more greenish than existing floor.

I am very anxious about this. Really appreciate your suggestions.

Those chatter marks is from the roller being used to apply Red Out. The roller is too thick and not fully saturated in finish. Also, Bona Red Out has a chalky residue at the bottom of the bottle. A strainer should be used.

You can try and dilute it with water. And sometimes a second treatment evens it out. Worst case scenario, redo the final sanding.

To avoid this problem it's best to use a product where you mix both parts together and apply it all at once - Pinkqualizer or Pink Blocker. The issue you are dealing with is the biggest Con with Red Out.

The green is normal. When you apply your actual color, it goes away. It's there to offsett the pink .

Thank you for the response. My worry is if this could be the machine problem of the contractor, will the problem still occur even with more sanding?

The chatter is 100% the contractors fault. Either needs a new machine or new technician or both. No progress payments until this is resolved.

Thanks so much. Just talked to the contractor, he said he will buff it tomorrow and then apply the sealer. Will buffing remove the issue? or we have to apply the red out one more time? If we have to reapply and ask the contractor to use T bar instead of roller, will it avoid the issue? Please advice and thanks again!

You can buff the marks out but, will need to re-apply the red out. You have to treat as redoing the final sanding. You are taking it down to bare wood.

Application is not the issue. Not equalizing the application is what caused the marks. Those marks were visible during application. The contractor should have even it out then.

Using a T-bar to equalize it is preferred. I like spraying the product down, then equalizing it with a T-bar. Spraying it, allows the finish to stay saturated on the surface of the wood floors. Then going over it with a T-bar while it is still wet will equalize the appearance.

Be generous with part "B". That washes any of the chalky residue off.
