Quilt finish, quilt start

The shower was yesterday and the floor quilt and burp cloths were well received. I have not been to a shower of any kind for a long time so I am certainly out of step here but… The gifts were not prewrapped for Mama to open but all placed unwrapped on several long tables (she got a lot) and left for folks to take a stroll and admire everything. Except that Mama didn't really see anything because she was busy visiting. I hope she was pleased when unpacking at home afterwards.

I always thought it was fun to see things unwrapped and everyone oohing and aahing (and comparing!!). Is that the way showers are held in your part of the world?

It certainly makes for a shorter time before the eats.

It was good to see some familiar faces and catch up with all the news.

So this morning, I spent some time finishing a top I started a few weeks ago, and while sewing, I was already in my head cutting the next one. Do you all do that?

It may be a while though before I get to it, but I will!

Theresa, we had a little gathering for my coworker who was having twins and all the gifts were wrapped. We took lots of photos of her opening them and holding them up.

I’m working on a small quilt now made of a lot of my huge pile of half square triangles. As I’ve been planning and sewing this one, I’ve been thinking of ways to use others.

The last shower I was at was several years ago now, but the gifts were wrapped. I’ve never heard of one like you described either.

I got my daughter’s quilt loaded on the longarm today and then got an error message in the software that I couldn’t work around. Grace Company support was closed today, so I had to wait until tomorrow.

I’m always thinking about the next quilt too. I’ve got all the pieces cut for another scrappy quilt. I can’t decide whether to start sewing now or save it for this winter in Palm Desert. I have two quilts to design and make for two grandsons. Twin-size in Minnesota Vikings’ colors of purple, gold and black. I’m not very enthusiastic about making them, and I’m suffering from a lack of inspiration.

I haven't been to an unwrapped shower either, but I guess it is quicker and less paper waste.

I always have other ideas in my head and in process when working on projects. My sister used to tease me saying, "Why don't you work on one thing until it's done before starting on a new project". Sometimes I'm not "feeling" one project. Or I need space from it. She gets it now, years later, when I ask her the same question, lol.
