I do not think modern farmhouse is a lasting style and I do not like grids but so much depends on the style you are wanting for the house .You could look a windows with removeable grids . Not sure if they are available in black.

What are the windows, double hung, casement, fixed? Some appear to be DH, some casement and others just boxes. Are the grids, only grids between the glass or simulated divided lites? Full framed replacements or insert type windows?

Who is designing your house and who is building it? I would get input from both about appropriate style, availability and cost.

I'm not a fan of grilles but certain houses need them. But less is more so if you are wanting them, then opt 1 is better

This is a renovation project, and we are replacing both the windows and the siding/soft-metals so we have flexibility in changing anything/everything!

The left upper left window is fixed, the upper right window is casement (on the right), the left/right bay windows are casement, and the main bay window is fixed. The thinner grilles are spec'd to be GBG, and the thicker dividers are mullions. We're using full frame replacements with the nailing fin since the entire siding is coming off.

If not white/black, what color combo would you recommend?

If the upstairs windows are in bedrooms be sure they meet egress code before placing the order. The sides and rear will the same I presume? White siding, black windows in my opinion is way overdone (and seldom done well). I would do white windows with 6" horizontal siding in a darker gray.

White with black windows is going to be "so dated" in about 5 years and you'll be stuck with them. I'd have white windows and paint the house a stronger color.

Still like option 1.

White with black has been very popular and I suspect will be for a while. Just about evrey color will go with the black windows, so do you have other colors you were considering?

Don't forget that a black window in any quality product is about 40-50% more than white, and casements are about the most expensive window to start with.

I see you edited your post to include a photo of the way the home looks now. I think the color combination looks way better than any of the options you proposed.

Dont go to busy will your bars/grids/grilles. They do looks nice but too many will make it too busy. Debbi Washburn showed really great examples.

Skip the gbg if you actually want to add definition to the front door all double hung windows, no grids. This will actually give depth to the facade (and probably be cheaper). I like the proportion of triple windows in the bay versus double based on the render.
