Switch for 50A 240V outlet

I have a 50A/240V outlet mounted directly below my electric panel, with the outlet being the only thing on the circuit. I use the outlet for charging my electric vehicle about once every eight days. In the warmer months, the temp in my garage hovers above 90°F, and the charging station does consume some power when it's plugged in and not charging my car. I'm not concerned about the idle power consumption, but more about adding a heat to the unit. I know that a breaker is not meant to be a switch, but would cycling it once every week or so be detrimental, or would you suggest a switch? Thanks.

Can you say more about your concern "about adding a heat to the unit." It isn't clear what you are worried about?

The powered outlet is not going to heat the garage any more than a 240 volt outlet for an electric range, dryer, or window air conditioner would.

Inquiring minds wants to know. After a search, it seems a car charging station can use a constant 3W +/- when nothing is plugged into it.

Sure, the charging station might use a bit a power when a car isn't attached to it but obviously the charging station isn't going to use any power when it isn't plugged into a wall outlet.

Your computer's power adapter might use a bit of power even the computer isn't attached to it.
