A dark color will dominate in a light hallway. You will need to balance out the whole. Consider turning the whole hallway into a jewel box. Look at a darker wallpaper that picks up the color you choose for the cabinets, and paint all the hall moldings the same as the cabinets. Maybe also waiscotting the same cabinet color? Lots of opportunities to create something bolder and gorgeous, without defaulting to white because it's "safe".

You have an excellent instinct. There is a trend that I happen to like of painting cabinets and trim all one dark beautiful color. Saturating the space or color drenching. It could work. Don't be afraid. If you do a search most built ins will be white but don't let that deter you. You may be on to something that will be stunning.

Sometimes people think dark colors mean a dark space but this is so very wrong. Dark painted walls can actually brighten a space because the items you see in the space stand out. I painted my powder room a dark dark almost black color that makes everything in it stand out nicely. Here are some amazing dark hallways.

If you want to go bold I suggest you go all the way with the darker Newburyport Blue.

Here's the look with an area similar to yours. I would paint the crown moulding blue for above the cabinet area. Install a roman shade on your window in a navy & white print.

I do really like the Newburyport Blue color. My hallway has one window and so the room is shadowy (if that's a thing). The corner that the cabinetry is in would be in the shadows. I am starting to get overwhelmed with thinking about the undertones and wondering if it will fight the BM Winds Breath color on all the other walls.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do love that color and think if I am going to go blue, go bold.
