Help me pick between two kitchen designs

last year

Hello! about to embark on a complete kitchen reno. my designer has given me 2 options for layouts and I am absolutely torn.

option 1) refridgerator on the side. Pros: This allows more cabinetry centrally. Cooktop and double wall oven. Cons: fridge seems far for the main work ”triangle”

Option 2) fridge freezer flanking the range. Pros: fridge close to range and sink. Cons: Too congested?

help me decide! any other suggestions on how to use the space welcome!

I need a to scale floor plan that is where you start with kitchen design why would you want a fridge and freezer sepearated by a range IMO they do not even belong on the same wall. If you post a to scale floor plan on graph paper here in jpeg format in a comment you will get actual pro KD help. Cabinet sales people are not ideal at kitchen design , first and foremost they want to sell cabinets, they work with software that has limitations . Get an indepednat KD that is how you get the best from a space . Most ID are not KDs either Post the empty floor plan here and see what pops up Its free take it as given from a lot of us who have been doing this for a long time . Show us every window , doorway where those lead and the plumbing if not easily changed nothing else in the space Post all here DO NOT start another post

How large is your household? Do you have a need to be able to seat 12 people at the same time (table plus island)? What is leading you to change from a regular frig to column refrigerator/freezers? It's attempting to accommodate these two appliances that is leading to the awkward plan. Have you priced them? That's a very expensive way to store food. Would it be possible instead to have a second regular frig in your garage or basement for when you entertain or need overflow space? I think the as-built is better than either of the two proposals.

I am not a professional, and I don't play one on TV - so my 2 cents comes from moving for work to many different homes across the country.

I suggest you NOT box any appliance into a space that can not be resized. (Refredigor next to the wall or large cabinets surrounding your oven)

Each home I purchased needed an upgrade or new appliances, either for myself or with a resell.

Today's fridge and oven are never the same size as the one being replaced. Custom-size appliances can be purchased at 3 times the cost of current production items or you must replace all kitchen cabinets.

How long do you plan to stay in this house, If any of your appliances fail in years to come, your options are limited unless you can increase or decrease the cabinet opening with space trim. I don't know if I explained this well but talk with your kitchen consultant.. My solution was to incorporate smaller (12") pull-out pantry shelves

In my view this is a how do you live consideration. Do you host large events or have a large household? The refrigeration selections here look a little disproportionate compared to the pantry space. I also planned a beverage station between my kitchen and dining space. I love it for entertaining because it keeps guests out of the workspace when they need drinks. I have a drawer refrigerator and drawer freezer there along with an under counter beverage cooler that accommodates everything needed from fruit smoothies to coffee to cocktails. Mixers, frozen fruit, ice, sodas, sparkling water, beer, wine it’s all there and it leaves my entire refrigerator available for food. If you are doing a beverage bar or coffee bar I do recommend having a small sink for filling and rinsing. Each of the uppers has a pullout drawer for small electrics, coffee pot, electric kettle, and blender. This photo is during construction but we did a lot with only about 6’ of space.

I like the second one better because the column fridge/freezer are together. Tbat said, I'd keep a range in the second version and put the microwave in the island so you have more counter space near the cooking area.
