Without being in the space, I lean towards one over the sink and one on each side -- that'll eliminate shadows.

Give it a test: Blow up a couple balloons to the size of your pendants. Tape up two, stand back and see what you think. Repeat with three. Seeing is believing.

One over the sink, one over the dishwasher. Draw and measure the island in a two dimensional flat drawing of the top. Note the faucet center on it.

Beyond that? (You'll wished you hadn't asked.) ?

Lots of room for improvement in the space, with some good pruning........Draw the whole thing, family, kitchen and dining if you feel really brave,

You could have a much lighter feeling,........more open feeling, just as cozy...with less, everywhere.

Start with the top of cupboards? You'd be amazed : )

Do yourself a favor……Buy string painters tape and small boxes, replicate lights for over the sink, then decide. I did this and never put them up. My sight lines were interfered with. Way too busy a look for my home. Give it a try then decide.

As Jan noted, you are best to draw a floor plan and lay out the lighting that way.

I would not put pendants here, I would put a new light in the family room that adds some spunk.
