Peak/Front Step A.I tool?

last year

Would someone be able to use AI to add a peak above my front step or add a more prominent front step to my home?

If your front steps were painted a darker color, they would be more prominent. I would just put a small shed type overhang above your front door. Because of window locations, its best to keep it sized for just a slight bit wider than your door, and the steps are fine, once they are painted. That porch and stairs needs a railing, they are unsafe the way they are now.

Wow you know what, I think you’re totally right!!

I think it's amusing you think any adjustments to the image are done with AI. I'm not aware that AI can do this yet.

Your canopy over the door has to have a pitch that is low enough to not exceed the peak of your roof. Additionally keep in mind the shingles used on the canopy, even if they are the same brand and color will not match your existing roof. So if you want them to match, you'll have to replace the roof.

I'm not sure the canopy can extend out this far without the support of some columns. A carpenter might have some trouble tieing in the support for the cantilever.

Here's my take on the gable for your house. I would remove all the shutters and replace only the ones on the large window on the right with nice wide ones. Make the porch wider with black railings.

Pet peeve of mine is a door with a single sidelite! I would remove that sidelite, center the door in the opening, and get a door with glass.

Single sidelite gone as mentioned above as well as removing the ill sized shutters are both good places to start. Then as cat mentions above, stairs a darker color, railings and a simple roof are all you need.

I’m not a fan of no shutters or black shutters. I like my current shutters and I’m also not a fan of black railings. Thank you so much for the suggestions!!! I find this so cool!!

Double windows should never have shutters; single windows should have shutters that are wide enough to look functional (i.e. cover the window when closed). The shutters you have shown us are so small they look like painted trim.

Here’s a Houzz picture of a very simple covering over a front door on a ranch home similar to yours. I like the white columns on this one.

IMO a nice awning over the door maybe glass and iron and no shutters they do not belong on multi windows ever .A nice new door and a much wider set of steps

I dont mind shutters. They dont always have to be functional. Houses were built and shutters added as a decorative feature years ago, and if you like shutters, then, keep them. I do think, the color on yours is a bit weak. They could be a bit darker, so they make more of a statement.

These are wonderful suggestions! Thank you!! Really have my wheels turning now haha.

I understand you like the shutters, but consider how they crowd the door. If you removed them and widened the porch and steps, I think you’d have a grander entry. Add a simple roof or awning as suggested above for the win.

Shutters only on the small window, storm door removed, stoop/steps widened with a simple shed roof overhead, plus landscaping:

I dont agree with storm door removal. I leave my door open all day long, regardless of the weather. The storm door lets in fresh air, if I open the glass, and it keeps the bugs from getting in, and my dog from getting out, where he would likely be hit by a car on our busy road.; I would never have a door without a storm door anywhere on the exterior of my house. I have also seen many that have been removed and the main door, looks awful in a yr or two, because it has no protection from wind or rain, or snow, depending upon where you live.

The shutters you have are fake shutters. While it’s possible that some other homes in your area have also made the same mistake and you’re used to seeing them, that doesn’t mean it looks good.

I removed the white storm door to get a larger area of color at the entry. The storm door could be painted the main door color for a similar effect.
