I think you may want pocket doors that slide into the sides of the closet. You can get an idea of them from this article.

Def not a perfect solution but you could do curtains on a track - they can be low key and blend with the hall colors, this pic is just to show how they hang

Thank you! I had the same thought but my husband wasn’t crazy about it.

We don’t currently have room for pocket doors to tuck in the sides of the closet but maybe a contractor can help.

I’d prefer bifold doors to what we have but they’ll be in the way of the adjacent bedroom when open. I’ve been looking for quad-fold doors that are smaller folds but I’m only finding vinyl accordian options. I’m also looking for smaller doors like we have, on a track, so that they can stack together covering a smaller space and leaving more room to work/move laundry from the washer to the hang dry space.

How long do you really stand there with the doors open ? A nice set of french doors could work.

But if you want narrower doors, get double bifolds. You will need to make sure the w/d is far enough to the right so the door stack does not interfere with the w/d door swing.

Full access bifold doors - they open flat to the wall - would still block your adjacent doors, but less in the way so maybe tolerable?

Your opening appears to be around 54" ? That would give you a door projection of about 13 1/2' when open if using a double set of bifolds. It would give you the most space in the hallway.

Can you scootch your machines more toward the middle to give you clearance on the sides?

Some sort of pull-down/roll-up shade?

Or maybe no doors, open space. That'd be my choice.

What about louvered folding bifolds? That would allow air circulation.

Simplest solution would be a large single bi-fold door that opens to the right.
