Backsplash help!

last year
last modified: last year

I need help picking a backsplash!! we have ordered our countertops (Laza Oro Quartz). we want to paint the lower cabinents dark ish green, uppers white with gold pulls/hardware. ive purchased a whire farmhouse sink along with a gold faucet.

kitchen is currently stuck in the 90s with honey oak cabinents 🫣 but in great shape so will hold onto them as we are trying to keep this budget friendly - likely not our forever home.

Also want to add I orginially wanted to do some pop of gold in the backsplash but my husband thinks it will be too much 😝 Also open to paint color ideas!

TIA!

A big trend in 2025 is cabinets that stop before the ceiling so save your money and time on that. Arches in large cabinets and doorways are also hot so your arch cabinet doors may have a resurgence too! Simple or no backsplash is also on trend. Running the counter up in a curve design by the stove is also an option that looks nice. Think devol kitchens saturated with character and somewhat oldfashion and quaint.

Removing a few uppers and adding a hutchlike feature is nice too.

The thing that dates kitchens the most to me is upper wood cabinets with arched doors. Yes, arches are coming back, but not in kitchen cabinet doors!

I realize in re-reading your post that it was backsplash you were originally asking about.

You need to finalize a bunch of other things before you start planning the backsplash.

But if you do end up choosing green and white for your cupboards....here are a couple of ideas that might work.

This one is from Tilebar. They have 5 samples for $5 so you can pick out a few that you think you like and see them in your space when all your other elements are in place.

This one looks blue in the photo but is actually Ming green marble. Similar to the photo below.

Both of these could be lovely with your counter and the green and white combo you have in mind.

Or, since you mentioned wanting some gold.....

It might be stunning - it might be too much. Only you can decide that!

Hold off thinking about your backsplash until you sort some other decisions. You can easily do a backsplash later but it is really difficult make the decision on splash before everything else is installed.

Honestly if changing doors, painting and adding tops you might as well get all new cabinets with drawers for lowers. The cost would only be nominally more.
