Angled boards typically uses considerably more boards so there is a larger expense. Would help to show your house as context is key.

Yes, we've received estimates and it will be about $2,000 more with angled boards.

A photo of then back of the house is included. The deck will go across the middle portion and will be 25' wide by 20' deep. I don't like the transition pieces that the contractors recommend but we've been told by several companies that staggered boards don't work well with composite decking because of expansion/contraction. I feel like angled boards may help to and the transition board look more intentional.

In addition to what has already been said if you plan on doing boards on the angle, your joist spacing must be 12" on center.

Yes, our contractor did mention that this would be necessary. I was surprised the difference in pricing for angled vs. straight was not greater.

If we go with straight boards, where would you put the perpendicular transition board? Down the middle of the deck?

25' deck I would split down in the middle with a single border and 1-1/2" inch overhang if you using a 3/4" composite board for skirting it will leave you with a 3/4" nosing and you get 12' composite decking and have hardly any waste just take a blade off on each side of the board to clean up the board edge.
