Dani sorry it took me a while to respond I just had a baby and house we are renovating is pretty far from our current home. I asked my husband to measure thickness but he only measured depth of the niche 🤦🏼‍♀️ I will attach that photo hopefully it can help you with the sizing. My husband said he believes it is 1/2 and inch or a little less in thickness.

For the material I believe our contractor used engineered marble for the niche and curb he got it from home depot. The vanity came with the countertop its the Dylan vanity from floor and decor. I will also attach the finished bathroom. We got all our tile from floor and decor and also our vanity and they feel extremely high quality and even our contractor commented that everything feels amazing quality.

Hi! What tile did you use for your shower floor? Love all your selects

My husband has placed penny rounds in 3 of our bathrooms without difficulty. That being said, he's placed quite a bit of tile before and is patient (which comes in handy re getting things right) Having small tiles in a shower floor makes it much less slip resistant. I would never uses large format tiles for that. In this case grout lines are your friend. I would not likely use white grout, however. Care must be taken when mixing ceramic/porcelain with natural materials. Some call for different types of grout etc. We learned this the hard way years ago when it was impossible to get the grout out of the little nooks/crevices of the stones. You also need to know the best time to seal them etc.

Morgan price, this is the tile I used for the shower floor, please keep in mind that this marble tile will need a lot of maintenance and some even advice against it. If you keep those things in mind and decide it will work for you it really is a beautiful flooring. :)

Hi! Thanks so much for the quick response. We would use this as the main floor tile. How much maintenance do you have to do with it? Now I am worried hahah

Vanity I chose but used size 49 inch

Morgan price, it would need to be sealed every 6 months.
Also do not use any other cleaners except dish soap and water i think there are marble floor cleaners as well. Floor needs to be kept dry.

oh goodness, I did not realize that. I might need to rethink that since it is for sunch a large area. Do ou have to have as much upkeep on your main floor tile?

Main floor would be less up keep since it gets less water I’m planning to seal it once a year :) still would need to only use soapy water or marble cleaner. If it helps I was fine using marble for our master bathroom since it will just be me and my husband using it. I decided to do matte porcelain for the floor in the guest since kids will use and guests. Its the same hexagon pattern but cool toned marble look. I will attatch photos

    Mandy -

First, thanks for asking your hubby to measure the niche for me - men never seem to fully listen when you ask them to do something 😂 It does look like around 1/2" - I will try looking it up on HD's site to see what the thickness is - should be fairly easy to find on there.

The porcelain hexagon faux marble tile that you used on the floor in your kids' bathroom really looks nice. The tile is a very nice "dupe" for real marble - and I dislike 99% of faux marble tiles that I've seen!

I'm sure it's nice to have things finished! What paint color did you use on the walls of your primary bathroom? Also, where is the ceiling light fixture from in your primary bathroom? I remember seeing a similar one awhile ago - but I didn't save info on it. I remember that I thought it looked really pretty.

Is this a second home (lake house?) or have you moved? I remember building my house while I had a new baby and a four year old (plus, I had just finished law school and was studying for my bar exam) - I bet you've been busy!

Dani we used sherwin Williams alabaster for the bathroom walls and sherwin williams extra white for the trim (tip: make sure you buy the paint from a sherwin williams store NOT lowes or home depot, i made the mistake 1st time and paint was more yellow.)

I will attach the light fixtures I used :)

Dani I agree about your marble comment it is really hard to find a good doupe but luckily I think the ones we chose in guest are lovely 😊

We are so happy to be finished with the bathroom renovations we are currently working on the kitchen now. We purchased a complete fixer upper near lake whatcom in bellingham. It will be our primary home later.

Hi!! do you have an up close picture of the shower floor

This is what it looks like upclose

  • last month

hi Mandy- i installed this tile also and initially thought it was neutral but once up on the wall it seems to read very pale lavender with some tiles leaning peach which i did not expect. i am wondering how it reads on your wall?

  • last month

Hi Franks, the tile looks exactly like the pictures above for us. It didn’t come out peach at all or lavender. Did you consider what type of lighting you are using? Do you have warm tone or cool tone? We are using warm tone lights in our bathroom.

  • last month

We also used sherwin williams alabaster paint on the wall to pair so that could of made a big difference depending on what paint color is on the walls my influence the color tones in the tile

  • last month

    May*

i will have to check. i have a solartube in the shower but no other light. so what color would you say it reads in your bathroom if you had to describe it?

  • last month

I would say like a soft warm light gray with a hint of beige

  • last month

    What grout did you use?

  • last month

    Warm grey

  • last month

Okay so in my house the grey is leaning lavender and the beige is leaning peach.

  • last month

My lights were set at 4000

  • last month

I just changed them to 3000

  • last month

How did the lighting change help? I believe ours are 3000 warm white.

  • last month

If the lighting isn’t the issue, I think the warm grey grout is what’s causing your tile to lean more toward peachy-purple. We used Mapei Biscuit on ours, which gave a more neutral look.

  • last month

I would look into grout colorant in mapei biscuit. If you decide to change the grout color.

  • last month

i think its the grout- but im not sure that can be changed as ive heard you can go darker but not lighter. we used custom brand warm grey which looked like the best color but seems to have gone on darker.

  • last month

You can lighten grout with a colorant. I would test it out on some dried grout on piece of plywood if you’re unsure. You can even add the tile to see how it looks

  • last month

It is easier to go darker vs lighter but I’ve seen it done before so it may work for you.
