What should I do with this space above my fireplace?

I have this open space above my fireplace that was made for a TV, but I will not be keeping mine there. I thought about maybe putting arched shutters there as doors, but it sounds expensive. Any suggestions?

One option is to drywall over the niche which allows you to hang art over the fireplace.

The easiest would be to hang art there, Don't go too small. If you want to light it, they make cordless remote control stick on pot lights and also sconces.

A big piece of art to cover it or better yet have it redone to be a nice flat wall if this is your home. Then add art and what is it you are going to have that needs display on the shelving that also needs to be considered

Before you do anything else, paint the covers of all those electrical outlets.

An off-the wall suggestion: If you have a friend that makes quilts you could commission a unique quilted piece that somehow echoes the curves. It could be a kitchy as a basket of flowers or something more abstract if that suits your decor better.

Either drywall over it or cover it with something like a framed print or a mirror.

Drywall over the niche unless you plan to install a recessed TV in a larger depression in the wall.

No one want to see the bracket and cords from the side view.

Make sure you repaint the room. That gold does nothing for the room.

Change the fan so there is no light on the ceiling fan.

I would drywall that niche so it’s more versatile for different sizes of art or decor to hang there.

If you do drywall the space over the FP I would also drywall the shelf area also

I may be the only one that likes the consistency of the arches. What if you layer an arched mirror with a vase and a smaller leaning framed art piece? Then the outlets will be hidden so don’t worry about swapping them out. I think the TV should go on one of the side walls. But if this becomes a ‘where should the TV go’ issue then please post the room size showing all the openings and windows and what your intended furniture will be.

You could add art there or a mirror or a large base but it would have to be narrow enough so it fits on the ledge and it doesn't have to have flowers in it but it can or it could have some kind of other things like grass f a u x or some other s t e m
