Is it THE MAIN bathroom as in adults/guests use it or is it the main KIDS bath? Tile is forever. I would go with a pattern and look that compliments your home and not cater to children as they won't be young much longer. Whatever the room is one day kid rooms will be guest rooms for adults. Tile is not an item to age down your look with.

Tile is "forever" . Wall paint is NOT. Towels are not, nor is art, or a shower curtain. A light wood vanity will pair with anything, as will a white vanity.

Show the bath you are doing. Please? It's a "tub/shower" ? It's a buddy bath? It's in a hallway with hallway entrance? Show all in pictures please - that's the first thing you do.

Why? Because it gives us full context. A periwinkle vanity , alone, with no other info does not tell much- other than you like the vanity color.

IMO tile is best kept simple so I use 12 x24 porcelain on both bathroom floors and shower walls I also do not do niches in the shower and the floor of the shower sme tile as the rest only smaller . I use a nice neutral plain tile in a color thta works with your decor in the spaces next to the bathroom. You have not saidhow many kids . Girls use up a ton of storage in a bathroom and for me the answer is caddies brought in and taken away with the stuff each kid needs. We have international students and have used this sytem for them all. A nice caddie with all the stuff each one needs to get ready I provide losts of towels and a spot to hang the towels in the bathroom but face cloths , tooth stuff , shampoo and body wash all go back and forth from bedroom to bathroom .he girls do make up in their bedroom (no hogging the bathroom) We have had up to 4 students at one time the system works well. I use sets of different colored towels for each student to keep that simple. If everything in the sapce is simple in color then wall color , accents , towels all can be changed easily. The big thing we found is the lesson in a squeegee use after every shower and a full out clean once a week by the users,

For a kids' bathroom, I'd choose a wood stained vanity instead of painted due to the potential for chipping of the painted surface. But if you're committed to the periwinkle vanity, you could choose a terrazzo tile floor as long as the other components are restrained and sleek.

Are you dedicated to the idea of tile? Linoleum is not only cheaper, it's softer and warmer underfoot and kinder to the joints. If you want to change it later, it's infinitely easier than tile.

Agree you shouldn't do something childish. Rather, choose something simple and classic -- and add a childish bathmat and shower curtain.

Also agree that a stained vanity will cost less /last longer than a painted version.
