City park NOLA.

Out in the swamp.

Alligator, pronounced Allegatah by locals, love marshmallows and will jump high to get them. (please use a stick for safety reasons) ;-)

eta: these alligator are on private land and are never hunted. So they get used to people coming by and getting treats.

They are still unpredictable wild animals. Do not try this at home. ;-)

Interesting, in one of your baldcypress pics I can see the reddish color of catkins blooming (before leaves emerge). One of my pondcypresses has opening catkins right now (male cones), tho none of my baldcypresses has ever produced male cones yet. Interestingly, BC male catkins on trees in my areas usually bloom well before the last spring frost.

eta: they reminded me of pin oak catkins, kind of long & spindly.

Amazing pictures! The No swimming one is very lively. I remermber visiting a park named after a snake in West Virginia. The park rule said that it is forbidden to bite back if bitten by the snakes ( something like that). Maybe the rule was set up by the snakes 😄 It scared me to death and we could not run fast enough out of the park
