The room seems small, the fireplace if fine I would replace the mirror with art, get a larger table lamp and a coffee table.

So far I suspect your sofa is not in the best location. In front of the hearth like that is never good for a corner fireplace.

I know this is not what you are asking, but my first thought was to replace the carpet with wood or vinyl flooring. Beside that, i’d like to know what sort of style you like or what would meld with the rest of your home. Stone? Brick? Tile? Wood? Marble/granite?

This has nothing to do with your question about the fireplace but rather decor in your room. I would start by working on the window treatment and placing rods closer to the ceiling to make the windows look taller. Instead of horizontal blinds, a natural fibre or bamboo roman shade would be more interesting. The mirror on the back wall isn't either interesting nor well placed. A large canvas above the console would work with a larger lamp. Place a basket on top of the dog crate to keep the toys orderly if you don't have another place to store them. Then, move your chair 1/2 away from the fireplace, closer to the sofa, and place a corner table with lamp in between. Then a coffee table...

I often ignore corner FPs and just arrange furniture ho it makes sense I have to IMO no FP is better than a corner one

It looks to me like the fireplace fits with your colors and decor. What do you not like about it?

You have little options with placing the TV. Over the FP or the wall to the left of the fireplace.
