Can you move the rug and the sofa out a bit, so they aren't right next to the fireplace? You should be able to see your floor between the rug and the fireplace.

Your room seems to have gray, brown, blue, black, and tan. I like the idea of a patterened rug, with a few of those colors removed.

You're paying too much attention to the stone on the fireplace. You can use a patterned carpet in this room no problem.

BTW you art is mounted too high over the sofa.

Use the online Visualizer to try out rugs, or.......purchase the smallest size rug, bring it home and check it for colors before you commit to a larger size.

Your current rug looks fine, as long as you pull away from fireplace about 12”. Do you have other upholsterd or different color furnishings in the room? More photos from different angles would help.

I like the rug and sofa together.

Looking at the room as a whole, the visual weight of the warm tones in the fireplace and wood floors = the weight of the cool tones in the blue sofa and rug. I think everything looks great

Show some floor between the rug and hearth as suggested. Center the rug medallion and the coffee table to the fireplace flue/mirror. Pull the sofa out from the wall a bit.
