What do you think? Too repetitive?

Is this backsplash too repetitive with the counter?

    Personally, I'd like more contrast.

    It doesn't go great

Too much pattern in both to work well together.

The floor, countertop and backsplash tile together - nope!

That blue(speaker?) on the countertop looks like a color that you might consider.

Is it too late to use the countertop material as a backsplash? I think it’s your best bet. You have a lot going on …

I don’t think it’s too busy with the counter, it’s just not connecting/complementing anything. To get a better sense of the overall feel, bring home a few of the same tiles and test 3 or 4 different shades/shape with a warm undertone.

Something solid, or the countertop material.

Yes, it looks as if you tried to match but missed.

A beautiful ceramic tile - I like what Maureen picked, or maybe something lighter - might be a better pairing with your counter material.

Appreciate all of the feedback! I’ll post some new ones as I find them to actually get a “vote”

It would make everything way too busy. It doesnt match color wise either, so no, its not a good choice.

Not only is it a miss with the counter but your cabinets have loads of lines so a grid look isn't great. Yes, post some others.

Your cabinets lean traditional. IMO the backsplash is too modern.

Hi, I am glad you decided to choose something else and I do like the glossy option Maureen posted in this discussion!

There are sooo many options that you could choose from I would first try to decide the direction that you want to go in.

    1. Having the same slab as on the counter although I prefer this option when the slab has specific veining that adds character, would not advise it here.

    2. Creating drama with material you don't see every day, reflective tiles, mirrored etc.

    3. Or giving more character with color or shape that you prefer

There are a lot of options to choose from, I am looking forward to the ending result!

Thank you for the added considerations on your comments. This is the help I really need. Trying to get away from the more traditional look (more transitional/contemporary), but having a hard time with that with keeping the existing cabinets (which we’re still trying to do with the amount of cabinetry we’d have to replace (having two islands—painted one black at least). Even more challenging is a slight arch at the top of my cabinets over my range. Does make me concerned about a grid/straight line tile pattern.

wait, are you saying you painted one island black, but not the other island or the rest of the cabinets?

Yes. Needed to break up the brown cabinetry. Debate on painting the other island black as well, but it’s part of the perimeter/outside cabinets (drawers).

Beverly, You don’t feel that the patterns you suggested would be too busy against the Taj counters? Do patterns that lean more modern at least help to downplay the more traditional cabinets when trying to be more transitional?

something lighter with a bit of shine or shimmer. Verticle is great!
