need help finding bedding for a dog-friendly king size bed

We need all new bedding and I’d love help picking out Colors for duvet, blanket(s) and pillows and recommendations if you have them for high quality. (Currently looking at boll and branch and Zara home).

I love the layered look but we need darker and/or patterned since our large bernadoodle dog often comes up on the bed. And nothing that snags easy.

Pics of room also shown. Thanks for your help!

You say you want good quality and looking at Boll & Branch as well as Zara Home. There's a major price difference between the two Boll & Branch being quite more expensive. Does your big dog (cute by the way) sleep on the bed or on the sofa at the end of the bed? I'm sure you want something that washes well.

Darn adorable dog, well worth decorating around.

If you like the layered linen look Quince has well priced duvet and pillow case sets. I can't speak to their quality. I'd go with espresso or aloe.

If you want prints, I like this mish mash of Rejuvination for your space. I can't speak to quality.

Are you open to adding some color? The gray/beige is kind of boring. You could add patterned and colorful bedding, as well as replacing the plain pillows with more colorful, patterned ones.

These are from Pottery Barn and are reasonably priced:

Then use white sheets with contrast edging. Easy to launder and have some interest. Pick a color edging that works with the duvet cover.

Good quality is maybe a good Idea but I have a huge 148lb dog who loves to sleep on our bed so I opted for less quality but totally washable and in a nice look for my room I bought 2 sets in 2 colors thta work in my space and I throw sheet on the bed at night . We have 3 dogs but this is the only one who insists on sleeping on the bed . I like good quality sheets but the top bedding is what works in my situation. I like coverlets better than duvets too.

    Could be me.

    But......

There's a LOT going on in that room. ......take the area rug out and you're free. ? With it? Calm the place down: ) !!

Desk, exercise,,,crates of who knows what, bedside junkola.....no lamps! Aurrggh!

I've NOTHING against a linen duvets/ cover that gets better with washing! And with a dog, you need to wash! I would have two, actually - I like a bed pristine fresh.

Layers are great, a quilt is great and can make a bed look super. But you want the dog up there? You won't love stuffing that quilt/coverlet anything in the washer/dryer when it smells like dog.......

Pick your poison....: ) rug first.

First practical thing is, what can your washing machine handle. Perhaps you’re already doing king- sized comforters or duvet inserts. My washing machine cannot handle that , nor space to upsize my machine, so even though I loved the puffy look and the weight in winter, after some years of commercial washing I have switched to quilts, which do fit, and I just layer in winter. I can also get somewhat puffy layered look by using a twin comforter at end of bed.

I ask this because even with a duvet cover, doggy odors will get to the liner. So may need washing more often.

I really like the idea of coordinating a very washable bedcover ( for humans) with either a sheet or perhaps a folded duvet cover, for more polish & heft, at end of bed. Probably would not want to buy the most expensive of these.

Not what you asked, but have you thought about swapping the desk and the dresser--maybe desk on the wall under the art, to avoid the door swing? That would open up the walkway on that side of the bed, and give some separate zones--rest vs activity.

Avoid Snag-prone materials like loose weaves, knits, or silk.

Opt for tightly woven cotton, performance linen, or cotton/linen blends.

Our last dog was not allowed on the bed, but our newest one is. Forget nice bedding. I love my sheets but I went to TJMaxx and got a cheap duvet one where I throw the whole thing in the wash. It is sooo nice to not worry about the quality and how it will wear. It is white and I fold a nice throw at the foot for contrast.

We have gorgeous wood furniture, great wall color, an amazing brass chandelier. I don't think a cheapo duvet brings down the look. It just makes life more livable with our dog on our bed.

I have two dogs - one (Ella - 10 -12 lbs) sleeps at the bottom of the bed when we first go to bed - and then moves to her "spot" on the footstool at the foot of the bed (or on the wood floor when she's really hot).

My other dog (Baxter) is only 3 lbs - he has his own special faux fur blanket that he curls up in (he actually has two - that way I have a clean one ready and am able to line dry the other one after washing so the "fur "stays nice). I lay it next next to my legs - he stays there all night - unless it starts thundering - then he's up on my pillow!

I have A LOT of !00% European linen duvet covers (my daughters tell me it's an "obsession" - and they are correct LOL) - and switch them out OFTEN (I change my pillowcase + cotton pillow protector almost every night - many people think that's odd - but I like laying my head on a fresh pillow).

I use linen/cotton blend (55% linen/45% cotton) flat sheets (folded in half) at the bottom of the bed for Ella. I have a few of them in charcoal/navy blue/gray/etc.- I take it off the bed in the morning and flip it on the end of the bed each night (it covers the bottom of the duvet). Not a big deal. Also - NOT EXPENSIVE.

These are the ones I've purchased:

The reviews show how people have used these flat sheets for other projects instead of simply using them as a flat sheet. People have used them for sofa covers to protect against cat damage, tailored bedskirt, curtains, backdrops for photography, etc.

FYI - the navy color looks more like below (it's being used to recover an ottoman):

If you would like some nice looking duvet covers - without spending the money on 100% European linen ones (with a high enough GSM) - there are linen/cotton blend (55% linen and 45% cotton) ones that work well. My younger daughter purchased a few of these for her house:

She purchased two white ones (so she could wash frequently - her two dogs sleep with her):

She also purchased a rust colored one:

She has used it for a camping trip + in a spare bedroom. She said it isn't nearly as orange as it looks in the above photo):

FYI - while I love 100% linen duvet covers and pillowcases - I prefer 100% cotton percale sheets. I have some nice ones (Sferra/Frette) and I have a couple sets from Peacock Alley - but I recently discovered Cuddledown Italian percale sheets when I spent the night at my daughter's house. I really liked them and am going to order some!

FYI - Ella likes to sleep on her back when she's hot - she was in her spot at the end of the bed and something must have startled her - she just rolled off the bed onto the floor 😂

Thank you all so much. Lots of good ideas here and the visuals helped so much!!

I agree with the removal of desk and exercise equipment but unfortunately have no choice at the present time.

I really appreciate those who understand the dog situation. Of course I’d prefer she not be on the bed but I work from home (in this room) so it’s slightly unavoidable and worth the dirt :)

"but I recently discovered Cuddledown Italian percale sheets when I spent the night at my daughter's house. I really liked them and am going to order some!"

    YEssssssssss!!!!

I found these in 2004, thinking why can I not find sheets like Mom had! WHY? I can't tell you how many I tried...Boll and Branch, Thomas Lee......many more

    Then came the aaaahhh.

    Cool.....crispy, but smooth as butter : )

A guy whose home I did while he was on the other coast all winter came home to a new house and those sheets. Next morning I get an email......."omg! what are these sheets? They are amazing!!"

Not inexpensive, but worth it, and as close as you will get?

LLBean 400 ct Premium Percale. Excellent

I have two dogs (45 and 90 lbs) and don’t let them on the bed, but sometimes they get up there. I love my schoolhouse quilts. They fit in the my normal size washer/dryer no problem. I also love their percale sheets. They have some pretty patterns, but also some more muted ones.

ORVIS has throws and sofa covers that work really well to keep pet dirt, odors and moisture away from furniture.

Mine aren't allowed on the furniture. We have several Orvis dog beds around the house and that is enough work for me, to get them all washed every few weeks.

I love your doggo, that's all I got
