36" wide? If you have a 36" cooktop or range, it would be better to have a 42" wide vent hood.

Bottom of hood to the grates, is a little over 25” Bottom of hood to the cooktop, is 26”.

Thank you, that helps! Mine is drawn with 30" from cooktop to bottom of hood with a 24" hood height but can't quite picture that.

Personally I like 30" to 36" from cooking surface to bottom of hood ... but you need to check the specs for that specific vent hood. They usually give you a range of X" to Y" for installation.

Both of these are from the Modern-Aire website and pretty close to the drawing specs you listed. I bought my kitchen hood from them from my last house and it was 48" wide and around 24" high, so a hood height that is commonly done with 8 ft or 9 ft ceilings.

Vent says 24” - 36” from cooktop to bottom of hood, mine will be 30" and 24" high with a 5" molding to the ceiling.
