hardwood Flooring help

Hi,
Has anyone installed Wickham solid hardwood in Wheat? I’m interested in this hardwood flooring but would like to see how varied the wood looks when installed. The AI program on the website makes it look really different. Thanks!

White Oak, Wheat – Wickham Hardwood Flooring

There is pronounced yellow to orange tone variation and the open grain stains dark. These characteristics are why European Oak is currently widely used. Using engineered gives a 7-11"+ plank width showing more flat cut wood structure.

Many sources for these floors including Hakwood, DuChateau, Monarch Plank, Hurst Hardwoods.

4-6mm top layer with birch or eucalyptus ply core gives the same number of refinishes as tongue and groove solid.

Buy a box and and lay it out in your home for a test. Is there a better way to know if you like it? No.

I have a sample of the wheat (bottom right). The sample is fairly uniform in color but the website says it can vary in color due to the character wood. Looking for a light brown color. If I buy a box, can I return?

As Jan posted that is the only way to test flooring in your home with your lighting and your stuff,

    It won't be worth returning!!

Good heavens, you want to install a floor, you don't want variation, if it happens you receive a box and LOVE it? It will be a box you own for a happy install.

The box comes and you hate it? Pretty "cheap/wise" insurance Deductible if you ask me...........

Are you ripping the carpet? For hardwood? I would hope: ) if so, you want to be happy. Alllll wood will vary where boards vary in open/close grain.

Your selection, is not what I call "light" no matter the variation.

    I would add,

Unless a sand on site floor is out of the question? Nothing will give you more control than a white oak , sand on site hardwood, in any board width you desire. In any shade of light to dark you want, installed by a very reputable pro in his field.

You have little context with your question......how much of this floor? What other flooring is in the house or if you are removing wall to wall etc. if the flooring is kitchen and beyond or.... what the cabinets are etc: )

what's wrong with the existing floor?

Thank you for all the feedback. We’re remodeling the kitchen so decided to update the floors on the main level as well- 1400 sq ft. Investing in a box of the flooring makes sense to ensure we like our final selection. Hoping we can find a prefinished oak floor we like. Appalachian Flooring also has options we are considering.

Can you try to match the flooring already there? If not I would do tile. The current wood floor looks nice.

it would be so wasteful to discard those floors. They would be simple to match.

^^Agreed - our floor pro just feathered in new wood and then sanded and stained it all to match
