I purchased a home that has the colonial style. But it’s just flat in the front. What is the construction around the door called in the picture? I want something like this without a deck because I don’t have a door above it on the second floor.

Would adding something like this to an existing home be a safe thing to add? Any idea what pricing would be?

It’d just be to cover the doorway. A little roof and to add some depth to the facade of the home. It wouldn’t be as intricate as this one.
