shower and vanity tile remodel help

I need help deciding what tile to replace the shower and vanity tile/ material on this small bathroom and what type and shape of sink to put there.
I would like to keep the current sink fixtures and I want a deep basin like the one we had 7 inches deep. We had a leak on the shower and had to remove it to fix it. I will extend the vanity to the wall where the windows are and put wood drawers there. I am replacing the sink and toilet with white ones and replacing the windows for a much bigger one with 3 glass panels, a bigger central one flanked by two narrower ones that actually open like the one in the picture but smaller

What an unusual room! What is the style/age of your house and where are you located?

Are you keeping the terra cotta wall tiles? if so the tile must coordinate with those. Are you also replacing floor tile? Our plumbing disasters lead to a beautiful remodel with 12x24 porcelain on floor and shower walls. It is easier to clean and really opens the space up. A warm travertine like tile could work with the wall tiles and a warm white painted vanity and drawers. If you had to the take the shower down to the studs, you could add a niche or ledge and fill it with some colorful tile. This reminds me of some places I have stay in New Mexico so i can see Talavera tile accents but you may have another vision for the space. Your larger window will beg for some plants.

Wow, that sink basin is incredible. I'd hate to clean it, but it sure is cool to look at.

For the shower I'd use another handmade tile with wide grout lines, the same size as you had before. I'd use grey for the tile. I'd use a walnut vanity.

Thank you. We are keeping the floor and wall bathroom tiles. Yes I was thinking going with the same size 4x4 cactus green tile

Ok using the same colored grout and space as the ones we had in the shower which is the same of the tile on the walls

The house is a 100 year old Spanish revival that had a remodel in the 1980s.

A small house no closets originally…

But I keep going back and forth between keeping some of the southwest/mexican decor and wanting something more modern, contemporary, lighter and simple. I think that a soft/ antique white or beige tile for the shower and a wood counter would be beautiful except for the maintenance of the wood

Your room is a riot of square tiles. Perhaps you should consider a modular square shower stall that comes with base, walls and doors and is simply installed as a kit.

I think @BeverlyFLADeziner's idea is worth considering. Having a smooth walled shower in a "riot of tiles" sounds like a good place for the eyes to rest. (And they're easier to clean) The challenge is getting something that blends with the tiles and doesn't stick out - as a pure white would.

I think a warm white in larger tile or a solid surface will give you more design flexibility. Maybe paint the vanity cabinet green and tile the top to match shower if you still want some green. Paint is easier to change than tile. I would definitely stay with warm shades of cream, beige or tan and not grey to blend with terra cotta.

I think the green would be stunning and you should lean into the Tile Experience :) I actually like the original turquoise too.

You could stick with squares or try a rectangle field tile in a size that still has some relation to the squares. So if they are 4", look for 4 x 12 or something, if you want to mix it up a little.

I'd worry that introducing a totally different material, scale, and style (like a large porcelain or solid surface) would really look out of place.

Look at Mission Tile West in Los Angeles (make their own line of replacement tiles for restorations) and Arto tile if you want to stay with original looking Spanish style tiles.

Such an interesting bath. I like it! Is the rest of the house heavy with tile? I would love to see pics of other rooms.

I like the rectangular tile idea and had been toying with it.

This is what i am going with to get a similar look to this:

It’s a bit creamy tile with the quartz countertop for the extension of the vanity

    Thanks to all!

I put the white tiles in the shop by the terracota to get a better visual only

Pretty! I still think you need a hit of light blue or green -- as your inspo photo shows how those colors will sing with the TC and white.

I got tiles for all the shower including the floor. I know now it’s a no-no to install same slippery tile of walls on the floor but that is what that shower has always had and is not a problem for us, but now I am thinking what installation pattern should the floor have.
Just continue the same direction of the wall that faces the vanity? Or crazy to do a turn pattern like the one on the picture given my riot of tile?
Or just really get a solid cream one piece like type of floor solution? By the way, if I go that route, what do I get?
Also: What shape drain round or square?

    ?

I just saw the shower base Beverlyfladeziner had posted . I think that is a wonderful possibility. Thank you!

Solid shower base = good idea. Non-slip, simple lines so as to not compete with your tiles. Kohler makes great ones. The shower base will decide the drain shape.
Have you tried ivory or pale beige tiles? White feels stark next to yours.

Here are terracotta showers. One base shows the linear built in drain.

    Thanks!

Yes, the tiles I chose are ivory, thanks again

I am also going to open the windows about this much

I am trying to figure which windows would be the best to achieve the best unobstructed views while having them ipen

    Open

I was thinking about some central panel with side thinner opening windows similar to what we have here but I am wondering if there is a thinnest window panel frame to consider. Those are side opening wood clad, but I could do sliding all metal may be, what about fiberglass I have never seen them or consider
