It looks fine.

The only thing I would change is the wall paint color ... a neutral that is less yellow.

depends on the budget. if the 4 inch strip is removeable I would install backsplash.. tile is eye level so lots of interest created there. can a different situation for microwave be doctored up? its bulging.....they have low profile and space saver models now. a new hood ? well it depends on budget and the scope you want to involve with this. the cherry stained cabs with white counters and beige walls isnt giving you much.....altho they are okay and in a traditonal walled space would be more pleasing in the looks or interest department.

Add a backsplash.

Does your hood vent outside or is it recirculating? If you need a bigger hood for better venting, fine. But it seems a silly, and not so attractive way to add interest to your kitchen. Plus, it will make the microwave shelf look very strange hanging out by itself. The space is what it is - high ceilings, low cabinets.

Your counters already have a backsplash. If you added another one, you'd have to remove the one you already have.

I concur that the yellow based paint looks really off with your cabinets. Repainting the space is all that would make sense to me. You have an enviable amount of cabinet space, good natural light, everything looks fresh and clean. Leave well enough alone.

I agree with others. Your kitchen looks great, except two things.

First, the wall color, and second the deep MW sticking out beyond the upper cabinet, supported by the shelf.

I think a light green, maybe something similar to the bowl on your island, would add interest to the space above the cabinets.
