That would be my goal. I'd talk with shops that do furniture repair, cabinet shops and I'd hand cut and glue pieces of oak or maple myself if necessary. Only a few square inches are involved. . Then fair with Bondo or one of the products used for boat building from West Marine of Total Boat. Prime with a couple coats, sand and paint.
