Had this little visitor the other night...

Went to walk out onto the patio last week and this guy was right at eye level - thankfully on the other side of the door! My daughter was outside and I motioned her over and I wish I had a photo of the look on her face lol! We talked through the door a bit but neither of us wanted to actually open it to either come in or go out!

Further research seems to identify it as a long-horned beetle, orthosoma brunneum. Luckily he left soon and has not made a reappearance!

Sorry, no pictures from the other side of the door lol! Only his underbelly!

So much fun when insects are on a glass door. I had a green tree frog two weeks ago. I didn't want to open the door because it was a sliding door and I was worried he might move and get stuck . Boy was he cute!

A window gives such a great perspective that we don't often get. The beetle is interesting and would not have hurt you. I am a bug fan but I get that I might be in a minority.

Cyn I used to get tree frogs on my patio doors often . It has been a while and I miss seeing these most adorable creatures!

I think I was too taken aback by the size of those antennae to truly appreciate it lol! It was just kind of a shock that it was at eye level three inches from my face! I do wish I could have seen the other side of it (lol, well, l guess I COULD HAVE if I just opened the door and went outside!) but you are right peren.all, that this was a perspective I never would have gotten.

I always have toads and tree frogs on my patio - which strikes me as odd (the toads at least) since it's blazing hot out there! But I do love when the frogs climb up the windows and walls and I am introducing my granddaughters to the joys of frogs and toads. Last year we had these fellows visiting us for quite some time on the patio

I like these guys much better than bugs lol!
