FYI, this is a coastal home. If you look at my previous posts, you can get a feel for the interior and vibe of the home. There
are some driftwood accent pieces.

It looks bland IMO. The darker option Beverly mocked up is better, but still eh. What about some color. I see a teal lamp peeking through from the other room -- something that color or a green that coordinates with the color scheme in that room to draw the eye in there?

I would say neither but what to you mean by your previous post, we don't see anything in this one other than a slight opening into another room.

The mirror is rather plain if that's the look you're going for. Since it's in such a visible area perhaps something a little more decorative. These are from the Wayfair website.

I think you'll be better off matching the hardware and base of the cabinet instead of trying to match the wood.

I think nothing emphasizes a vibe quite like an object that goes in the opposite direction. So I’d look for something slim, black metal, nothing that looks hand forged or weathered.

IMO that looks like you tried to match and missed and honestly wahy do you want to see a door in reflection at all. Go look for a piece of art for that space .From what I understand you have posts about this main space why did you not just carry on with one of those . Sapces are not designed one at a time but in an a well thought out whole

Thank you all for the input! I know the mirror doesn’t “match” the chest perfectly, but that wasn’t what I was going for. I really like the idea of a mirror in the entryway because it reflects light, helps brighten the space, and it’s practical to have a quick look before heading out the door. People have been doing this in foyers for years, and I think it works really well here.

I do appreciate the suggestion of artwork, but in this case I feel the mirror makes the foyer more open and welcoming. Also, while I understand the idea of designing a home all at once, sometimes it’s just not realistic. Many of us build our homes room by room, and still aim to have everything flow together over time. This foyer is a good size and I believe the mirror will add both function and style to the space.

Just to clarify what I’m looking for: I don’t want anything with a lot of embellishment on the mirror. My goal is something simple, clean, and soothing that fits a coastal home. I also have to factor in the existing sea life pictures on the wall, pictured below, so the mirror needs to complement those rather than compete with them.

For me, the mirror is about function and feel — it brightens the foyer, reflects light, and gives a calm balance to the space. I’m not trying to make it a big statement piece; I just want it to work harmoniously with what’s already there.

And, btw, for what it‘s worth - I like the mirror. I thought it was a nice choice when I noticed it yesterday. It works fine style-wise and scale-wise; and also, the simplicity of it works well in contrast to the more detailed woodwork of your console.

There comes a point in time when you have to trust your own eyes and your own style.

Personally, I only display items in my place that I like to look at and/or that have significance to me.

The pictures I posted don’t reflect the entire entryway. Directly opposite the chest (where the mirror will hang) is a large family portrait on canvas, which I prefer not to share on Houzz. For that reason, you’re not seeing the full view..
