This pic showed me that at least one "sugar" type maple that looked alittle odd to me in a forested area was in fact a black maple. The oddity was very green leaves down low in the shade even in a crowded oak-hickory forest. Even the standard sugar maples in that area did not have branches/leaves down that low.
