Too tight in space? Feedback appreciated

last month

I replaced my entry table with this which is longer than my prior one Does this chair still work in the space? It does get daily use putting on and taking off shoes But I cannot decide if it is now too big for the space TIA

Sorry, but I think your new table is the problem, not the chair. It is just too long for that wall; can you use it somewhere else?

yes it's too much. If you need the chair, get rid of the table.

can you put a small thin chest where the dog is?

Cute dog! But your table is still too long (even though you can't necessarily see that from the front door); and getting a smaller chair will not fix that.

Ideally, you need a table that isn't wider than the wall behind it, and less deep. In other words, you need a table that fits in the corner, and doesn't protrude past the walls behind it and beside it.

Like Ally said, if you like it the way it looks and it works for you, keep it there. Personally, I don't think it looks that bad.

Select a cabinet that allows you to store shoes.

absolutely not @BeverlyFLADeziner ! My husband will just add more and more shoes to the pile lol

This is a better solution. Smaller table, chair to the left.

    Tuck it under the desk.

I agree it looks too crowded from the first photo. However, looking in from fron door, it is better!

Function over form in this case.

Is it perfect? No. Does it work well enough? Sure.

I think it looks fine! Pretty chair and table. If possible, I'd scootch the chair a little to the right to center it in the space available to it, so it's just a couple inches farther from the table..

Smaller table, smaller chair. The chair you are using is too,big and ornate for the space.

Both the chair and table are a little big in my opinion but not overly so. If you like them and they are functional, I would keep both.
Your dog's expression cracked me up. Mom? Mom? Why are you standing outside?

I think a small upholstered stool would look cute there.

How a bout a tool stored under that table then it will work perfectly even though the table is a tad too wide but I would do a larger piece of art and a taller lamp or even better a nice vase filled withfresh flowers .

If ok with length (small would look better), consider connecting the area visually so that both the table and chair won't feel as large and the eye will take in the overall “vignette”.

Taller lamp, layer and add larger art.

Reupholster the chair to suit (won’t cost very much).

At first glance I thought the table was too long because I did not see the wall continue under the railing and it looked as thought the wall ended short of the table width. But, I do see it continues and is well framed. I think it looks fine as is. Ideally, a narrower table that fits within the tall wall section would be best but your setup is not bad.

    Smaller table, no chair.

You can use a srool or bench. No need for a back while sitting for shoes.
