I like the arrowed one. It will look nice on your house, but, if you could find the exact same color you already have, it would look even nicer.

Your house color looks different in the first photo vs. the other two. It seems like it's similar in color to a cedar (I don't know what type of wood was used for the siding of your house). I think the roof color used on this house below looks nice.

Maybe you could add some dark trim color on your house also - for example, your metal roof over the front entry?

However, my understanding of the color of the wood on your home may be completely wrong.

Thanks all! The arrow is pointing to the roofing guy’s choice if we wanted close to what’s there now. But I don’t. It’s all too much brown. Too much of the same tone and I would like some contrast.
Dani_m08, yes our house is cedar siding! Looks lighter in the sun for sure, which is why I have the different photos.
I do like the darker roof on your photo! I’m leaning towards Appalachan Sky (last color on the one with 4 colors). And then maybe a black metal roof above the entry.

I would have them bring a full size of each of the four colors on the right side. They should be able to put it up on your roof so that you can see what it will look like (my roofing company did). I worry that the very bottom one may be a little too dark - but it's difficult to tell with photos of your house + a photo of the little roof samples.

You might try the visualizer on the GAF site. I don't see the color being accurate, but it might give you a general idea.

You basically never want to match the roof to the siding. Instead try to complement. Generally, going too dark is better than too light.

In your second picture, the roof looks like a dark charcoal, which contrasts nicely with the wood.

Medium charcoal would look good. If they have a "weathered wood" blend of gray and brown, try a sample of that, too.

Green! The green one right below your arrowed choice will probably work well. If you don't believe me when I say green and wood almost always complement each other, 'net search images of log-sided homes with green roofs and then you will.

I would go for a green. There are a number of houses around here with similar siding as yours, and I always think the ones with green roofs and/or green trim look the most appealing and the most interesting.

A green roof would give it a feel more like a chalet or log home.

Just a quick update. We chose Appalachian Sky! It’s like a dark grey with some hints of brown. I’m excited. Thank you for your help and advice!! I’ll update once it’s done. 😁

Did you have them layout a bundle of the shingles on the actual roof before making the choice? I don't see that color working in my opinion.

On my screen it has almost a purple undertone. Your sample shows blue/gray mixed with reddish brown.

Thanks! That does look purpley, but all the photos I’ve seen don’t look like that. According to The internet (🙄) when I asked about color tones: (hoping it’s right!)

Thanks for the info... the brown has red in it, and the gray has blue....red plus blue equals purple. I agree lay out a bundle of shingles.

If you like gray, I would look at a cool blue gray. These roofs are blue, see how nicely they work wth the brown wood.

If I can change, I’m thinking pewter or charcoal. Hubby won’t go for blue or green. Only worry is pewter looks to light. And charcoal looks too dark. I guess dark is better?? It’s a big house.. thank you! Some pics….

I am sticking with my initial recommendation which was your arrowed choice. A Bark/Burnt Brown Blend. In my mind nothing blue, black, gray or charcoal.

Thanks! Millworkman- I hear you! Our roofer guesses that is the closest color to our existing roof, but I’m not a fan of the brown on brown. There is just so much brown already.. I need something else!
