Kitchens are primarily about workspace and storage. Do you feel yu have enogh storage or dod you need more. Do you have enough work and counterspace or would you like more. Do you need a dining table that seats 8 with an island counter as well? Do you like having the sink in the island ? What is the gap between the cabinet run with the range and the one behind the table?

You've shown a WALK in pantry. A butlers pantry is a serving /storage space between a kitchen and dining area.

The structure Is virtually void of natural light but for terrace side, which is the main entry?

Put dimensions, feet/inches on the plan.... add more info......and an elevation of exterior as well. Seems a train car : ).

That is a pantry no butler at all. Do you have a butler??? Sorry being sarcastic. A kitchen is designed for how you use it and no other way, Get a good independant KD have as many meetings as it takes to get right and forget silly names for spaces that have no use in reality .Show us all the measuremnts this does no tlook to be a large home so every inch counts .At least here you will get some good pro help for free but to strat along walk from car to kitchen and all past the bedrooms . Is this a new build and who designed it if so?

What country are you in? You might want to post on your country specific Houzz forum. House design can be quite different from region to region, and many people are stuck in their ways and won't/can't understand that other people are used to living with different layouts!

Best to post the plan with dimensions as Jan said. I don’t see how you can even get into the living area seating without dive rolling over the backs of the furniture. You may need to rework this whole area - kitchen/dining/living - in order to get it to function correctly so that all plays into the kitchen design.

It appears you have an existing window (in the proposed Pantry), and it would be nice for any walls/floor space to align with the edge of step if the step can't be altered. So then, have you done a layout without the Pantry room to see how the Kitchen layout performs with the large window and step?

Also, the Living Area does look a little tight/skinny, so sliding the Kitchen back when there is no Pantry room might allow the Dining table to be rotated giving more room for the Living. But storage/function needs should be addressed for the Pantry (and appropriateness of function given the large existing window).

This is pretty clearly a row house in an urban area. You don't need dimensions to get useful advice. You do need to explain what the red walls are in the plan. You also need to explain a little bit about how many people live here, who cooks and what your specific needs are in the kitchen.

The comment about the seating in the living area is valid. An alternative layout would ditch the pantry, slide the kitchen to the left, put the dining table opposite the kitchen near the stair, and create a more spacious and functional living area at the back of the house looking out to the terrace.

I always think these things are obvious, but they’re not. The way your dining table is oriented in your layout, 3 people have their backs to the view. Turn the table 90 degrees and now only one person has his back to the view.

It's actually a somewhat smart use of space to create two layers of use to the left side of this kitchen - you have a fridge and pantry with another pantry layered behind it.

But, the doorway to the walk-in pantry really constricts that area, the window is wasted on a walk-in pantry, and I'd rather see more counter space here instead of a wall to a pantry.

It seems like half of a good idea to use the space in this fashion, but it ultimately is not a winner. Back to the drawing board.

No to steps. No to sink on the island. Move it off the island with the extra space from no pantry.
