Mirror mounting

last month
last modified: last month

Bought a thin long mirror that only hangs vertically but I bought it to hang horizontally?? Bought it to go above my TV in a narrow space above the whole length of the TV but there's only built in mounting on one side ?! And the mount sticks out of back so even if I could find some mount for the other side one would be flush to the wall but the original would not ?! Any ideas ?? Where to go & what to buy to hang it horizontally ??Thank you .
Sorry didn't give option to leave pictures not sure why ?!

post a comment to your thread & include a photo in the comment. I don’t think you’ll get any useful help without a photo - cannot even begin to visualize what the back of your mirror looks like. The obvious solution - to me - is mount a shelf above the TV & just set the mirror on the shelf. Will that work or is it doable? Who knows without a photo?

All spaces of wall do not necessarily need to be filled. I don't think a mirror would ever be appropirate above a TV.

You can frame the mirror and use the frame material to hold a pair of new mounting points.

Take a photo of the back of the mirror including the mounting hardware it came with.

I have switched mounting positions on mirrors, and either moved the hardware or bought a hanging kit and added new hardware.

Not sure I would want a mirror above the TV. Seems like it would be distracting to watch TV and also have to watch the reflection in the mirror.

I have a very small space. Mirrors are recommended for small spaces. It makes a nice decorative addition plus adds light & the illusion of space to a small space . I've put it up to the space where I want it as a run through n it looks great !! Thank you all for you're help ! A handyman friend of mine decided to take it home & saw off existing mount & then remount it with matching mounting pieces on each side so it hangs flush on the wall instead of one side sticking out . I think that will work out great !

@muffin1970 - your mirror is a totally different look than I could visualize from your description in your post. I think you’d have received better suggestions if you’d included that picture. Great that your friend has offered to help. It’ll probably look pretty nice when you get it hung.
