Help with curtains for bay window

last month

This bay window is in a color drenched blue office. I want curtains and a cushion there. Not entirely sure on color....keeping with blue or go with a pop of color? Also, how do you hang curtains in this bay window? What kind of rod? 🤔

Won't weigh in on colors, but the easier mount would be the drywall above the window trim.

This is stunning. Would need to see the rest of the room to comment on color.

Do you need curtains for privacy, shade, or are they merely decorative? You have almost no space for them to stack and I fear the stacks would encroach a lot on the windows themselves. I'd be tempted to skip long curtains and go for a cafe curtain that is a flat panel that simply hangs and does not open.

This pic shows both how a long stacked curtain can hog a bay window, and how well a cafe curtain works for privacy.

Another example of an architecturally interesting window that opts for cafe curtains.

Again, the stack hides the windows, but they are at least wide windows. You don't have room for the stack to pile up. Just cafe would be good.

You can do cafe in sheer, opaque, solid, white, pattern, whatever.

Still a work in in progress.....will eventually tackle flooring.

The window lets a ton of heat in and the ventilation or air flow not great. Gets pretty hot in there during the heat of the day.

Paint bthe vents the same as the wall color.

Well, i was thinking of brass vents but will definitely consider painting blue

Your room does not have a lot of architectural details and for that reason, I'd go for a pop of color or a blue pattern on your curtains to add some interest. It doesn't even have to be a bright color to pop against the blue.

Google bay window curtain rods. You will find many. Be mindful of where the rod mounts go as they will dictate whether your curtains can all get stacked on the side or need to pile up on the spaces between the windows.

Also pay attention to the thickness of fabric. You don't have much space to stack the curtains without covering the whole window. If you get a thick fabric they will take up more space.

I'd favor curtain rods hung beneath your four square windows. You can keep the bottom parts of the windows covered all day and still get some sun light in.

Is this the only window in the room?

Yes, this is the only window I have.

Wayfair sells the three piece angled rod set.

    As Kendrah’s

As Kendrah’s stated, no stack room. Perhaps top down bottom up inside mount cellular for heat control.

Why block the view? Remember that people walking by don't care what you are doing:

    "What Is the Spotlight Effect?

"The spotlight effect is a term social psychologists use to refer to the tendency to overestimate how much other people notice about us. In other words, we tend to think there is a spotlight on us at all times, highlighting our mistakes or flaws for all the world to see."

"The window lets a ton of heat in..."

Consider window film to reduce the solar heat gain without blocking the view.

Actually, I love to see out and dont mind at all people seeing in that window. The only window I am looking to cover in the day is this one. It is the heat that I want to avoid. I just might look into the window film.
