Ideally, no. Are these the only defects you could find? Are they in a wide open space?

How does the floor look when you're standing up?

It's tempting to look for every little defect when the floor is new, but those things may not even be noticeable from a normal distance, or when rugs and furniture are in the room.

The first picture looks like there is two staples in the face of the hardwood. Why would someone staple it like that. Its very noticable.

Wood flooring is a natural material; its' not 100% uniform when it leaves the mill. The flooring shown appears to have been laid tight. The small gap is, I believe, an acceptable defect in the particular piece of flooring-- not an installation fault. The National Association of Home Builders publishes Residential Construction Performance Guidelines for Professional Builders and Remodelers which serves as a quality standard. It requires visual defects to be assessed from a distance of 6 ft.

First photo are natural pin holes in the wood - normal feature. You can have it filled. The second photo, hair line gaps, common during this time of year. Flooring will shrink after it has been installed. Most likely get bigger by the end of February.

Wood floors are not some continuous sheet of smooth plastic material. Each individual plank moves, and has characteristics from the tree from which it is harvested. If you fill the normal shrinkage gaps during the driest time of the year, you get filler fallout in the summer, when it is humid and the wood swells.
