siding color options

We need new siding and love deep ocean blue steel siding from edco. Our Anderson windows are old but still in great condition so we’re not replacing them. We love houses with blue siding and white trim, soffit, facia etc. not sure how that would look with the sandstone colored windows? Or should we go with sandstone trim in blue siding? Currently the house is sandstone ish.

I would use sandstone trim. I do not think white windows with sandstone trim would look right. Just my opinion.

not white, but I would consider a soft gray trim, something blue/gray.

the sandstone is even too light for the dark blue siding.

I think it could work, although Hunter Green might be a better match. I do not think the corners of houses look good with contrasting trim. I'd keep the verticals to match the siding, the horizontals at the roof to match the windows.

The windows that are currently staying on the house are sandstone. We may in the future (if we win the lottery) change out the windows and switch the windows to white. Just kind of wondering if we put white trim boards around the sandstone windows for a few years. How that would look?

I like how the windows recede with the current color - you see the house as a whole

    what color is your roof?

You have a lot of windows, in good condition, I’m not crazy about how the blue looks on your rendition, the windows ”jump out”, but that’s just me, I like something closer to you current color better. But, it’s your house.

Any chance we could see the house from the front?

Do you have one of these houses that spent all the money on the front of the house and left nothing for the back of the house? Builders do this all the time.

This is important to know before you proceed with your project.

    Sandstone with white

Given the sandstone windows, the sandstone siding is the natural fit. I would play up the blues with all the yard accents, florals, etc. The black sliding door kind of throws it off the aesthetic unfortunately, white would have been more forgiving since there's white trim.

I have to stick with my current sandstone windows.

What visualizer ap do you use?

Curb appeal is important. It would be nice to see a photo of the front of the hiouse. It might make a difference as to color options.

This what you see when you come up our driveway. Kind of a goofy layout. We are in the middle of a 5 acre 300’ wide peninsula. You can only see the house from the lake. Which is the first pic I posted.

So the house is the contemporary shed style.

Here is the color chart from the Edco Metal Siding. These are the colors the poster can select from.

I'm not sure I would just continue using horizontal siding on the total house. The massing in the back of the house is a bit overbearing.

I would NOT select a color but select a wood grain that blends into the woods to update the appearance of the house.

I would not do a fake wood grain on steel siding. If you wanted to do natural cedar shakes, I might endorse that. If you want to blend into the woods, get Hunter green. Hunter green and sandstone is a pretty classic combo.

I hate tan. I think the blue, although not the ideal choice for your windows, looks a lot better than blah tan.

3 stories of weathered wood facing the lake seems a bit much. I usually like the Sea Ranch look with weathered wood but those are 1.5 story homes, it would look good on the front of your house...but not the back.

I'm not normally a fan of accent vertical corner pieces but in your rendering they break up the heavy massing of the volumes.

The dark blue color helps that large facade recede nicely. Blue with tan (sandtone) is a nice combo.

I like the blue and tan as well. My wife and I have been driving around trying to find another blue with tan trim house to see in real life and have only found one. I think it looks pretty sweet. Being I’ve only found one other house it makes me question my color choice. Thanks for your comment. Glad to hear someone else likes it.

I made this in AI but it is kinda similar to your house.

Nice. I have to figure AI out.

I like the sandstone windows with the blue siding. Striking, and sophisticated. Makes me think of Ralph Lauren. Perfect for the lake.

I use Gemini and ask it to create an image, here is my prompt:

create image of a deep Navy blue large 3 story wooded lake house with tan window frames, a gray roof with a small wood deck, rails and stairs leading to a large lawn as seen from the lake

I think it is huge change for the better is only decided by you . IMO if the blue is only on one other home it might be great to have ..Myself I like the color you hve it is restful and a great backdrop for some better landscaping and a much bigger patio big pots filled with color too
